Heading to the Beach: Swimwear Advice for Women

Obviously, the appearance of the garment is crucial when you are figuring out what swimwear to take to the beach. The debate between a one piece and a bikini honestly comes down to personal preference. Different styles have different strengths and can either help you hide parts of your body that you aren’t fond of or accentuate parts of your body that you love.

Selecting A Swimsuit

It’s a lot of fun to choose a new swimsuit. Doing so is a great reminder that warmer weather is on the way, and those lazy, sandy days of summer are coming quickly.

There are four kinds of women’s swimwear, including a tankini, a trikini (this is a one piece but a lot of the skin is exposed), a bikini and a one piece. When you are trying to decide which of these options you want to go with, think about the following points.

1. Durability

Look to see what material the swimsuit is made out of. Colour is important, as are other small details. You want your swimsuit to last, so make sure it is a quality piece as are Seafolly bikini pieces.

2. Colour

Bright colours look great on pale skin. They can help you look tanner than you really are. However, if you are tan already, or have a darker skin tone, lighter colours will look best on your body.

3. Purpose

Many people forget to think about how they are going to use this article of clothing before they buy it. If you are planning to spend a lot of time in the water, or if you have a family to chase after, go for something comfortable. If your goal is to get a tan, you obviously don’t want anything with too much material! Consider why you want the swimsuit and then go from there.

4. Shape

What does your body look like? That plays a role in what swimsuit you should purchase. Some styles will flatter your body, and you obviously want to choose those. For example, if your hips are not as wide as your shoulders, your body shape is similar to an upside down triangle. Look for a two piece that is high cut and has a high waist. It will accentuate your legs.

If, however, your hips are wider than your shoulders, you should look for a two piece. Find something with a padded top. Also, low waisted briefs are a good selection as well, as they elongate the body.

If you are curvy with a narrow waist, go for a one piece. You want something low cut and look for skirted bottoms if possible. You can also get a two-piece, but you need to find something with a high waist.

If your body looks like an hourglass, you are in luck! Your waist is narrow, and your shoulders and hips are about the same. This means that just about any style will work for your body. If you really want to make a statement, though, go for a bikini in a retro style. Stay away from a bandeau top if you have a large bust.

If you have an hourglass figure, but your body is more athletic, you can still wear just about anything. However, to look your best, choose something with boy shorts (low waisted) or go with a high cut swimsuit. You also do not want to wear tight fitting ties if your hips are wide.

If everything lines up, including your waist, hips and shoulders, your body shape is that of a ruler. Look for a triangular bikini that has ties. A halter neck does great things for your curves. Boy shorts are also a good idea; they make your bum look fantastic!
