Two women have been accused of stealing more than $2,000 in meat from an H-E-B in Temple, according to a Monday, April 18 news release from the Temple Police Department. Temple is near the Austin area, adjacent to Killeen.

According to the police department, the incident took place after 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 15 at the store located in the 3000 block of S 31 Street. Officers arrived and found two women who had allegedly stolen meat from the grocery store and had left the area.

Officers learned a store employee noticed the pair exit the store with large quantities of unpaid meat products. The employee confronted them and tried to pull the cart away, but they were able to load all of the meat into their vehicle, according to the Temple Police Department.

The same suspects let a shopping cart run into another vehicle in the parking lot, damaging it, police added. It is estimated the suspects stole over $2,000 in meat. This is an active investigation.
